Going Green
ISO 14001 is often seen as the corner stone standard of environmental management systems as its currently the only standard within the ISO 14000 group which can be certified by external certification authority and therefore demonstrates our continued commitment in not only meeting registration but in also protecting our environment.
Amethyst is familiar with both the waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) Directive 2002/95/EC and the reduction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoSH) which has been in force since July 2006
RoSH
The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment". This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.
WEEE
The EU Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is one of a series of 'producer responsibility’ Directives that makes EU producers of new equipment pay for the recycling and/or safe treatment and disposal of the products they put on the market when they eventually come to be thrown away.
